Located directly on the slopes and at the same time in the heart of nature, this family-run four-star superior hotel combines warm hospitality with alpine lifestyle and timeless elegance.
It is now official: our new wellness worlds are open. Across 1,500 m², two completely redesigned areas now await you – an exclusive adults-only spa area with saunas, an onsen pool, a cold plunge, a relaxation lounge, and inspiring rituals, as well as a spacious family wellness world with two slides, an indoor pool, a baby pool, and a relaxation area.

Our culinary approach also revolves around the Austrian zest for life. Our kitchen team, deeply in love with their homeland, primarily uses fresh, organic, regional ingredients, following traditional Austrian recipes.
Our family area offers everything to delight explorers of all ages: an expanded restaurant area, a sunny terrace with breathtaking panoramic views, and a dedicated family pool with slides. For the youngest guests, there’s a lovingly designed toddler pool with a mini-slide. At OberHof, animal residents await new friends, while exclusive family rooms and attentive childcare ensure relaxing and enjoyable moments.
Even though the Oberforsthof is a lively place, we offer many retreats for relaxed togetherness: Adults-only areas in the new spa, spacious rooms with balconies, quiet lounging areas in the garden, and seating for couples in the restaurant area and the fireplace room.

At Oberforsthof, people who want to enjoy life come together: families enjoying unforgettable adventures together, couples seeking time out full of peace and indulgence, and groups who love togetherness and activity.
Whether hiking, skiing, relaxing in the spa, or enjoying a cozy dinner: our guests appreciate the family atmosphere, the many possibilities, and the space everyone can find for themselves. Some stay a few days, others a little longer – but everyone takes a piece of Oberforsthof home: memories of shared moments, pure nature, and the good feeling of having been in the right place.
We are open all year round with a short break from after Easter until May. The hotel has 44 rooms, 22 suites, and 3 single rooms. We are located at 765 m above sea level, right on the mountain in the St. Johann district of Alpendorf. In summer, the hotel is an ideal starting point for the Salzburg mountain and alpine world. In winter, with ski-in/ski-out access, the hotel is located directly at the chairlift and gondola station of the Snow Space Salzburg ski area.
The restaurant is open daily in the morning, at noon, and in the evening. Oberforsthof cuisine includes breakfast, an afternoon snack, and a 5-course dinner. Our new spa offer from late autumn 2025: Family spa world with two slides, indoor pool, baby area, textile sauna & chill areas. Adults-only spa world with various saunas, onsen pool, cold plunge, and spa with treatments & massages.
Salzburg Airport is around 70 km away – a transfer is available on request for a fee. The nearest train station is in St. Johann im Pongau; from there, we can provide a free pickup service on request. The lively shopping town of St. Johann can be reached by car in just 4 minutes (5 km).

Arriving by train?
The guest card already allows free use of all public transport in the Salzburg area on the day of arrival. Just let us know if you would like to use the pickup service or public transport offer – we will gladly take care of the rest.
