It’s something new. It will certainly be something special – and of course it will remain just as cozy as it has always been. Starting at the end of October, we’re opening a new Oberforsthof chapter: with a brand-new spa & wellness area, an even better restaurant concept, and our signature hospitality. Look forward to two spa worlds: a spacious family area with slides and water features, and an adults-only spa with ritual zone, saunas, and an onsen pool.

With us, culinary delights are all about Austrian zest for life. Our regionally rooted kitchen team works mainly with fresh organic ingredients from local producers, crafting dishes inspired by traditional Austrian recipes.

Even though the Oberforsthof is a lively place, there is plenty of privacy to enjoy. Adults-only areas in the new spa, spacious rooms with large balconies and seating for two, tranquil lounge islands in the garden, as well as quiet corners in the restaurant and the fireside lounge.
From autumn 2025: two separate spa worlds across 1,500 m². An adults-only spa with saunas, onsen pool, cold plunge, relaxation lounge, and inspiring wellness rituals. A family spa with two slides, indoor pool, baby pool, and a quiet zone. Plus: an expanded restaurant area and brand-new rooms.

Whether hiking, skiing, unwinding in the spa, or enjoying a cozy dinner – our guests value the family-like atmosphere, the wide range of possibilities, and the space everyone finds for themselves. Some stay just a few days, others a little longer – but all take a piece of the Oberforsthof home with them: memories of shared moments, pure nature, and the wonderful feeling of having been in exactly the right place.
We are open year-round, with a short seasonal break from Easter until May. The hotel offers 44 rooms, 22 suites, and 3 single rooms. Situated at 765 meters above sea level, right on the mountain in the St. Johann Alpendorf area, the Oberforsthof enjoys a prime location.
In summer, it is the perfect starting point for exploring the Salzburg mountains and alpine pastures. In winter, the hotel offers true ski-in/ski-out convenience, located directly at the chairlift and gondola station of the Snow Space Salzburg ski area.
The restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Oberforsthof cuisine includes a rich breakfast, an afternoon snack, and a five-course dinner.

Family Spa World with two slides, indoor pool, baby area, textile sauna, and relaxation zones.
Adults-Only Spa World with various saunas, onsen pool, cold plunge, and a spa featuring treatments & massages.
Salzburg Airport is about 70 km away – transfers can be arranged on request for an additional fee. The nearest train station is in St. Johann im Pongau, where we are happy to provide a complimentary pick-up service upon request. The lively shopping town of St. Johann can be reached in just 4 minutes by car (5 km).

Arriving by train?
Your guest card allows you to use all public transportation in the Salzburg region free of charge, starting on your day of arrival. Just let us know if you’d like to use the pick-up service or the public transport option – we’ll be happy to take care of the rest.
